This shows the breather or vent hose. As the gear oil heats up and expands, this allows the gases to vent out and prevents oil from leaking out through the axle seals. The original 7.25" had a cap that fit loosely on top of the hollow bolt that holds the junction block to the tube. I'm not sure if one has any advantage over the other but they are not interchangeable so I had to use the Maverick hose. I actually prefer the Falcon setup as it is less bulky. I should probably put a screen over the end of the hose or drill a hole in the rail and stick the hose end in it. This would prevent something from getting in the hose and clogging it up but I think the chance of that happening is pretty slim. Next –––>
