Getting the right length on your driveshaft is crucial so the slip yoke can move in and out of the tranny as the suspension goes up and down. First put the slip yoke in the tranny as far as it will go, then pull it out 3/4". I was able to keep the slip yoke on the driveshaft and just let the end that attaches to the differential drop to the ground. Then measure from the center of the u-joint bearing cap to where the center of the bearing cap would be on the differential yoke. This measurement must be taken with the full weight of the car on the ground or if you need to jack it up, make sure you lift it by the axle assembly so the leaf springs are compressed. Have a friend help you pull the measuring tape tight and get a good, accurate reading. Next –––>
